History

Action Air Freight Services was founded in Austin in 1982 aa ground handling service for a regional all cargo airline. From 1982 to 1986 we loaded and unloaded everything from Beech 18s (BT-18) to DC-6s with a few Lear Jets and a lot of Convairs thrown in and an occasional 727. We kept 55 gallon drums to catch the oil from the DC-3 engines and used a lot of speed tape for "minor" repairs. We did some more "respectable" work for a couple of passenger airlines providing them with ground service for their cargo operations.

Our cartage business began as an offshoot of the ground handling service. We delivered the local Austin freight ourselves and ran a truck to San Antonio. As the handling business began to fade the cartage took off. What started with a pick up truck and a cargo van has evolved into a fleet of 18 trucks ranging from ‡ ton vans to 18 wheelers.
